Parousia

My project “Parousia” branches off from aesthetics of pathos which often is a part of performances presenting this theme. These performances also too literally concern symbols of Biblical “Day of God”. In “The Biblical Eschatology of the New Testament” by the father Augustyn Jankowski we find:    “Parousia sometimes takes on secular meaning i.e  Jdt. 10,18;2 Macc. 8, 12, 21; 2 Cor 7,6; 10,10; Phil 1, 26; 2, 12.”  According to the contemporary researches in theology “Parousia” takes place “already” and “not yet”. Therefore I decided that the person “acting” Jesus is already an adult but not in “Christ’s Age” yet.

Introducing a moment which is about to begin and has never took place before in history is presented in my project as happening “here and now”. The only historical element which exposes this symbolism is the crown of thorns which is revealed only due to the action of picture taking.  It is as if the one who “carries” the crown of thorns doesn’t feel its weight, wasn’t different from others. This particular treatment may have its justification when the revelations occur.

The person “acting” Jesus was my brother Krzysztof. Among many important reasons for choosing him, the most important was the origin of his name which in Greek means “the one who bears Christ (in his soul)”.
